More information on current ticket prices <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oasa.gr\/en\/tickets\/prices-of-products\/\">here.<\/a> There are 3 basic types of tickets that you can purchase depending on your needs.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Single tickets<\/strong> (and various packs of at a discounted rates)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Route to Airport tickets<\/strong> &#8211; these are separate tickets specifically for Athens Metro Airport link and the Airport EXPRESS bus line.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Top-up cards<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; ATH.ENA CARD is a reloadable travel card that you can top up with various fare products. There are 2 types of these &#8211; anonymous and personalized.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tickets are sold in automatic vending machines at all metro stations and some tramway stations, by vendors at a number of bus stops, and in some stores \/ kiosks (see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oasa.gr\/en\/tickets\/points-of-sale-reloading\/points-of-supply-for-tickets-and-cards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">all sales points here<\/a>).\u00a0<strong>Please be aware that tickets must be validated<\/strong> when you travel or you may be fined. At the metro stations, you validate your ticket or pass at the automatic entrance gates both when entering and upon leaving your final station. You can also book a <a href=\"https:\/\/radiotaxihellas.gr\/\">radio taxi<\/a> in advance (or app in App store or Google play).<\/p>\n<p>All licensed taxis in Athens are equipped with meters. The fare is charged per kilometer and per hour after an initial base rate is applied when starting off.\u00a0 Be aware that the &#8216;per km&#8217; tariff will double after midnight through to 5am and there are flat fares to and from the airport in<span class=\"s1\">to central Athens (which includes luggage, VAT and road tolls).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Most taxi drivers speak English, however you will come across some who don\u2019t. All except for the suburban railway (run by TrainOSE) are run by the public Athens Urban Transport Organization (OASA) . Tickets for public transport can be used on all forms of public transport. More information on current ticket prices here. There are 3 basic types of tickets that you can purchase depending on your needs. Single tickets (and various packs of at a discounted rates) Route to Airport tickets &#8211; these are separate tickets specifically for Athens Metro Airport link and the Airport EXPRESS bus line. Top-up cards\u00a0&#8211; ATH.ENA CARD is a reloadable travel card that you can top up with various fare products. There are 2 types of these &#8211; anonymous and personalized. Tickets are sold in automatic vending machines at all metro stations and some tramway stations, by vendors at a number of bus stops, and in some stores \/ kiosks (see all sales points here).\u00a0Please be aware that tickets must be validated when you travel or you may be fined. At the metro stations, you validate your ticket or pass at the automatic entrance gates both when entering and upon leaving your final station. On buses and trams, validation is done using onboard ticket readers when boarding. To plan your journey, use the Athens Urban Transport Organization (OASA) website or call their customer helpline on 210-82.00.999 &nbsp; &nbsp; Taxis Taxis operate a 24-hour service and are quite cheap. They can be hailed down on the street or otherwise picked up at taxi stands around major tourist squares such as Monastiraki and Syntagma. You can also book a radio taxi in advance (or app in App store or Google play). All licensed taxis in Athens are equipped with meters. The fare is charged per kilometer and per hour after an initial base rate is applied when starting off.\u00a0 Be aware that the &#8216;per km&#8217; tariff will double after midnight through to 5am and there are flat fares to and from the airport into central Athens (which includes luggage, VAT and road tolls).\u00a0 Most taxi drivers speak English, however you will come across some who don\u2019t. The driver is required by law to provide you with a receipt, but this rarely happens unless you ask for one.
